1. Who we are and our role

StoreSide provides a customer-support helpdesk for Shopify merchants. For information about your StoreSide account — such as your name, email, and billing details — StoreSide is the data controller.

For data about your customers that flows through your inbox — such as their names, email addresses, order details, and messages — you are the controller and StoreSide acts as your processor, handling that data only to provide the service to you.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, authentication identifiers, and your Shopify store domain.
• Billing information: your subscription plan and payment status. Card details are handled directly by our payment processor and are not stored by StoreSide.
• Store and customer data: support tickets, message content, customer names and email addresses, and order and fulfillment information retrieved from Shopify.
• Usage data: log data, device and browser information, and product-analytics events about how StoreSide is used.

3. How we use information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the StoreSide service.
• To connect to your Shopify store and display order context alongside tickets.
• To classify tickets and generate suggested replies using AI.
• To process payments and manage your subscription.
• To send service-related communications, such as quota warnings and account notices.
• To monitor, debug, secure, and improve the service.

4. AI processing

StoreSide uses a third-party AI provider to classify support tickets and draft suggested replies. To do this, the content of a ticket — which may include customer names, order numbers, and message text — is sent to that provider's API. Our AI provider does not use this data to train its models. AI features can be limited through your settings.

5. Sub-processors

StoreSide relies on the following third-party providers to deliver the service. Each processes personal data only as needed for its function:

• Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
• Supabase — database hosting and storage of your StoreSide data.
• Clerk — user authentication and account management.
• Resend — sending and receiving support email.
• Anthropic — AI ticket classification and reply drafting.
• Upstash — background job and webhook processing.
• Sentry — error monitoring.
• PostHog — product analytics.
• Shopify — source of your store and order data, and subscription billing.

6. How we share information

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with the sub-processors listed above, with your authorization, or when required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the security of the service. If StoreSide is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

7. Data retention

We retain account and ticket data for as long as your account is active. When you cancel your account, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, unless we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security reasons. You can request earlier deletion as described below.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and hosting with reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International data transfers

Our providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for those transfers.

10. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights for your StoreSide account, contact us at the address below. If your request concerns data about a merchant's customer, we will refer it to the relevant merchant, who is the controller of that data.

11. Cookies and analytics

StoreSide uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to run the service, along with product-analytics tools that help us understand how the app is used. We do not use advertising cookies.

12. Children

StoreSide is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent version.
